Bella’s Arch-Enemy Returns
Sue was on her way to Vermont for a visit. Bailey, Sue’s sweet Border Collie, was riding in the back seat of the car. Her pigeon Brooklyn was riding on her arm so he could see out the window. People in the cars around them always do a double take.
It’s around 4:00 pm in the afternoon and I am expecting Sue anytime now. Sue and I have been wondering how Bella, my frisky cat, will react when she sees Sue? Has Bella forgiven Sue for squirting her with water? Will Bella still spit at Sue? Will Bella go after Brooklyn? What will happen when the Calico cat and the feisty bird meet in the same room? Soon the truth will be told!
I was sitting on the couch knitting while waiting for Sue and her animal kids to ascend onto the patio. It is early evening and Bella is sitting by the screen door looking out onto the patio. Her eyes are fixed on a line of ants busy carrying little pieces of food or grass back to their nest.
Out of the blue Bella jumps up and let out a terrifying yawl, all of a sudden, she tears across the front room to my bedroom. I thought she might have been stung by a bee. I stood up and looked out the patio door and there was Sue, Bailey and Brooklyn in his cage coming through the gate, onto the patio. I had not heard the car pull into the parking spot or…
