The Adventures of the Calico Cat: How Bella & the Bird Learn to Tolerate Each Other!
My last story was about the cat and bird dilemma. My daughter Sue comes to visit me about once a month. She lives in Manhattan and I live in Vermont. It is a five-hour drive. She usually stays three or four days.
The problem is I adopted a cat since the last time Sue visited. She comes with her border collie Baily, who is a gentle loving dog and Brooklyn, a fancy pigeon with an attitude. After Bailey bounced out of the car Sue took him for a run. When Sue came back from Bailey’s run we sat on the patio.
The sun was setting over the mountain with the beginning of a beautiful sunset. We decided to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunset. Sue took Brooklyn out of his cage and changed his diaper . . . Yes the bird wears diapers! He is a free bird… Brooklyn struts around the patio like he’s a proud rooster in a hen house.
After the sunset goes behind the mountain a gentle breeze blows across the patio. We were getting a little chilly, but we were not ready to give up our enjoyment of the breeze after a hot day. I went into the apartment to get a couple of sweaters. As I opened the screen door and stepped into the front room, Brooklyn flew on to my back.
